After a convincing bonus-point win at home against London Irish last week, today was Bath’s first test on the road visiting Welford Road for another huge fixture to keep the top four hopes alive! The mood in the squad has been sky high all week after returning to competitive Rugby with a win and that was evident this evening with Stuart Hooper's men scoring six tries in another impressive outing since the restart!
After two early conversions from Leicester Tigers, Bath’s front row were at it again with Will Stuart and Tom Dunn crossing the try line before the 25th minute. Three tries in two matches for Bath’s hooker Tom Dunn, who has hit the ground running since the restart and must have impressed Eddie Jones who was watching on in the stands! Rhys Priestland converted both tries, adding six points to Bath’s total before Ruaridh McConnochie scored an awesome try in the corner to top off a great team move.
Either side of half-time, both Lewis Boyce and Beno Obano crossed the try line to cap off another dominant performance from Bath’s front row! Whatever the coaching staff have been working on since the restart, it is paying off!!
Josh Matavesi sold EVERYONE with a slick dummy to unlock the Tigers defence, before surging through the oppositions midfield and unselfishly setting up Tom de Glanville to score his first Gallagher Premiership try. Hopefully the first of many for the impressive Bath youngster.
If you are yet to see this try, head to BT Sport and watch the replay now - you will not want to miss this one!
This try topped off a perfect start for Bath with maximum points secured from the first two matches. The lads are on the road again next week, with the Blue, Black and White up against a strong Northampton Saints team. Who else has enjoyed the past two weekends?
